1 Martie

Happy 1st of March. Here in Romania we like to celebrate the first day of Spring by buying little badges and broches (martisor). 6/7 little stalls all crowd on one corner of the street, brimming with rows of trinkets for sale which we then share with our loved ones and teachers! It's a fun tradition where you find yourself chosing to participate and buy these tacky littel trinkets which you wouldn't look twice at on another street corner on another day. However the look on the kids faces is worth it especially Laz who giggled with delight while showing everyone at least twice the ones that he had received. The day was beautiful the sun was out and the warmth melted the icicles so everywhere dripped and dropped like a Springtime shower. It was lovely - as of course were the amazing martisor's that I received from my boys :)

Martisor's come in all shapes and sizes and we found their favourites - a dog for Cristi, a mermaid for Alex and a monkey and a Donald Duck for Laz. Happy boys on their way to school.

I received 3 this morning a huge garish diamond type 2 heart brooch chosen by Laz and a silver one covered in multicoloured jewels with a broken fastener from Cristi. I opted for Cristi's 'school made' prettier paper option in the morning before moving onto the racier numbers for the afternoon.
